In its first year, UpRISE recruited youth from 21 youth-serving organizations and schools to host youth coalitions. Each coalition was encouraged to engage historically marginalized* young people, those left out of the conversation of power and change, or directly targeted by the tobacco industry. Coalition memberships range from six to 80 young people, and in total, over 300 youth and adults are presently engaged in UpRISE youth coalitions.
